How about walking or riding?
I grew up walking always — my Dad always said he'd quit playing the game if he couldn't walk it, and he kept walking up to age 86.
I only use a cart if there's something saying that I have to (like a scramble), or the times my wife wants to tag along and watch me play. I also never quite feel like I've got the same planning on a shot when I ride to it. Could be psychological (like so many things in golf), but my best rounds are always when I walk, as well.

Since back surgury in 2000 I ride mostly now. Will walk up some fairways when playing. Always played better whn I walked. When I first started thats all I wanted to do. Once I walked 45 holes in one day, talk about sleeping good that night.

Use to always walk, but have gotten in the habit of riding the past few years. Now that you guys mention it, I feel like my scores were a little lower when I walked. I plan on walking this year during my afternoon league. We'll see what the scores do.

Walking always gave me a better prespective of where I was, what I had to do for my next shot. Never really looked at yardage markers but when walking it gave me a better look at my next shot and was able to judge my distance better.

45 holes steve!? WOW! That's a day of golf!
I have been mostly walking this year, and it feels better for the game…though the scores don't reflect it yet…

Walking, I love walking the courses…I only use carts for tourneys and “special occasions”. Weather doesn't bother me at all I've walked 18 in the snow. Yuck!

Back in Illinois I always walked. It gave me a chance to think of my next shot.It also gave me a chance to realize my bad decisions on many occasions…lol..But now I live in Tennessee and there a very few flat courses ,a cart is most advantage because walking takes all the energy out of you up and down hills. I also find that the distance between green and tee is much further.I do walk 2 -1/2 miles every day when not playing,so I do get exercise.

Walking with a pull cart is the best, unless the weather is such that they might find you dead on some fairway cause of dehydration and heat exhastion (I'm in New York). Couple courses here are very hilly so by the back nine you can feel like a zombie.

I like the best of both worlds. I LOVE to ride solo. For example when playing in a three-some or five-some. Walking usually makes me play better because I'm only focused on what I'm doing? I don't have to wait till my cart partner finds his ball or hits his shot, and then I feel rushed to hit my ball when we drive there. Walking, or driving solo gives you an extra minute or so to evaluate your shot, which can often make a big difference. You also know that your bag is right there with you all the time. How often do you take a few clubs with you and let your cart partner drive to his ball only to find out you need a different club.
