Looking for suggestions. I play about 2-3 times a week once the warm weather sets in but avg at least once a week all year round. I do a lot of walking in addition to carts. Would love to get more than a year out of them without them becomeing hard and stiff. I have been a big fan of Adidas but am not brand loyal…whatever works.
Shoes I have been looking at so far for 09:
Adidas Tour 360 Sport
Puma Tour Saddle SL
Current Shoe:
Adidas Powerband 2.0

Being an old man and having flat feet, I truly have total comfort in the Foot Joy Contours. Have now had three pairs in the last 8 years and the third pair is still in the closet waiting to be used. I think they are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn.

My golfing buddy swears by those also. I still have not made a choice. I was able to get another pair of powerbands due to warranty issue. Also looking into Ecco shoes. I tried on a pair and was amazed.

Good luck on choosing a pair. Don't pick what we like, but what feels good on your feet. All the shoes you spoke about are great shoes.

Taking in account the spike condition and normal damage of wear and tear, what would you guys say the average shelf life of a golf shoe is?

I recon that if I can get two summers and one winter out of a pair of shoes I'm doing well. That equates to about 75 weeks, 350 rounds, approx 2100 miles. I always try to buy good quality shoes and I change my spikes regularly. I have bought cheap shoes in the past and they have never lasted.
I always walk the golf course if I can, hate using carts:-(

I had bought my shoes in 2005 and play roughly twice a month (unfortunately). However i never changed spikes and i figured now would be a good time. So if someone could recommend a good place to get replacement, i'd be glad to listen.

Target, Walmart, any Sports store with golf equipment. On the back of the packs it should list shoes manufactures that they work with. I change mine out 3-4 times a year.
I really like the black widow cleats

Well I went with the Contours and I am kicking myself for taking 2 years to not try them sooner. Without a doubt the best shoe I have ever tried. I opted to save a few bucks and go with the FJ's after several people I talked to said the eccos compared to them. I wanted to try the pumas but could not find a retailer local anywhere.
I tried to play with my warranty replaced powerbands and my feet and back was killing me after 16 of 18 holes walking. I guess ill try to sell them on ebay cheap…lol.
The only thing I wish was for some more youthful, sporty styles. The comfort though more than makes up for the style being a bit older.

I think you made a wise choice on the Contours. Like I said in an earlier post, they are the most comfortable shoe that I have ever worn. My last pair I got 3 years out of, and that is about 60 rounds per year. Now that I am on the 2nd pair I have gotten almost a 100 rounds out of and are still going strong. I have the next pair stored in the closet wiating, found the for $50 in Myrtle Beach.
I usually change my spikes after about 20-25 rounds. Just depends on how worn they are.

Steve, you mentioned you have flat feet. So do I. Do you use orthodics in your shoes? If so, what kind?
Thanks,
Stu

growing up I used them, but they made my feet and legs hurt that much more. I haven't use those kind of inserts in years. Now I did have a spell of heel spurs, and the doctor gave me, or should I say he sold them to me via my insurance for my heels.
