The “What's In Your Bag” Topic was beginning to run in the direction of golf balls, so I thought I'd start a topic on that line.

What would you prefer? A ball with more distance but less feel and control, or the opposite? What do you currently use?

I've really not found a (legal) ball that seems to provide significantly more distance, so I'm generally looking for one that doesn't feel like a rock off the clubface, and that I feel like I can control fairly well. Add one more parameter to that: I don't want to spend $3+ on a ball.

I've tried a lot of the under $20 a dozen balls, and I currently really like the Top Flite D2 Feel balls… and I get them at Wal-Mart at $14 for 15 balls. I did pick up a sleeve of their new Gamer balls, and found that it seems to spin better, and runs about $20 a dozen.

I play mostly distance balls.

They are generally a hard ball.

I won two boxes of Pennacles(distance balls) last year I have been playing with.

I mostly bump and run around the greens so spin is not a big issue.

I will tear a softer ball up pretty quickly so they dont last long. I dont really need the extra side spin either.

I will probably try the d2s the next box I have to buy.
