The “What's In Your Bag” Topic was beginning to run in the direction of golf balls, so I thought I'd start a topic on that line.
What would you prefer? A ball with more distance but less feel and control, or the opposite? What do you currently use?
I've really not found a (legal) ball that seems to provide significantly more distance, so I'm generally looking for one that doesn't feel like a rock off the clubface, and that I feel like I can control fairly well. Add one more parameter to that: I don't want to spend $3+ on a ball.
I've tried a lot of the under $20 a dozen balls, and I currently really like the Top Flite D2 Feel balls… and I get them at Wal-Mart at $14 for 15 balls. I did pick up a sleeve of their new Gamer balls, and found that it seems to spin better, and runs about $20 a dozen.

I tend to lean torwards a ball with greater feel. I'll sacrifice some distance to be able to control my approach and chip shots.
I've always stayed away from the Rock Flite, but I'm looking forward to trying the D2 balls. Especially for that price. I also read a that the Nike Power Distance - Soft was a good ball for the price. Haven't tried them yet either…..man I need to get back out there.

I play mostly distance balls.
They are generally a hard ball.
I won two boxes of Pennacles(distance balls) last year I have been playing with.
I mostly bump and run around the greens so spin is not a big issue.
I will tear a softer ball up pretty quickly so they dont last long. I dont really need the extra side spin either.
I will probably try the d2s the next box I have to buy.

I have been using the Srixon ZUR-S for most of the year mixing in some Wilson Fiffty's from time to time. The Fiffty is hard to beat for the money, I think I found the balls I have now for $10 on clearance at Target. It isn't as long as the ZUR-S but long enough for the courses I play.

Well I am now eating crow. I use to be the one that never had a good thing to say about Calloway balls, any of them. Now I can put any Calloway in front of me, and it is like I am knocking the cover off of them now.
